Minecraft is a sandbox game, in which you can build anything from pixelated blocks. Mine resources, slay mobs, join your friends to form a clan or vandalize somebody's property. Download Minecraft and build a whole blocky empire just with a humble pickaxe.

Graphics and Sound – 4/5

Minecraft was probably inspired by Lego. That's why everything in this game is either a) cubic b) pixel. Even the planet Earth, oranges and basketballs have a cuboid form and pixelated textures. Thanks to this simplistic art style, the game can be played on anything, including Android gadgets.

Although, simple-looking, the game can't be called primitive. If you decide to build a monstrous palace, surrounded with Darth Vader monuments and fountains filled with cubic piranhas, then you can give it an astonishing amount of detail.

Besides, simplicity never fails to be catchy. Cubic chickens look dorky and hilarious. Cubic dragons are deadly enough to make you lay bricks whenever they appear in the sky. And cubic caves/forests/dungeons are pretty magnetic to all fearless explorers.

Gameplay – 5/5

Minecraft is all about mining, building and occasionally destroying. There are many types of resources that you'll need in the game: metal ore, timber, coal, gold, cobblestone, etc. These goodies are crucial for crafting awesome tools and weapons. But you'll also need recipes for that. Once both elements are present, you can craft:

  • Iron Hoe.
  • Crossbow.
  • Golden Axe.
  • Snowballs.
  • TNT.
  • Fireworks Rockets.
  • Enchanted Diamond Shovel.

And so forth. Apart from crafting, you can build whatever you desire. As long as you're patient enough to get resources and do all the constructing. You don't have to be alone though, your friends can assist you in building, mob-slaying and quest completing. Sometimes, minecrafters build fantastic things together: a copy of Westeros form GoT, the Titanic, Minas Tirith, Adamantis and other masterpieces.

Controls – 5/5

Minecraft is super simple to control no matter if you play it on PC or iPhone. Game's menu is laconic and ergonomic, so you won't spend minutes on just summoning the inventory. The action buttons are intuitive too. For example, Attack is assigned to RT on Xbox, ZR on Switch and right-click button on PC.

Lasting Appeal – 5/5

Minecraft is that type of game you can play infinitely. There are so many scenarios, events and flash mobs you can be a part of. So, you don't have to worry about the game getting stale. Play it online or solo, visit exclusive arenas in DLCs or build your own — the game has it all and even more.

Difficulty Level

It depends on what you want to achieve in Minecraft. Some play it for the sake of architecting crazy buildings. Others enjoy annihilating Pillagers, Endermites and Chicken Jockeys. Some are creative and others are destructive. Whatever path you choose, you will encounter certain challenges. But they make the game even more fun.

Summary

Minecraft is a phenomenal game, in which you can unleash your creativity or appetite for demolition. Download Minecraft — creepers, ocelots and mine carts are waiting for you!
