Clash of Clans is a unique free-to-play strategy game for iOS and Android mobile platforms that is still in top-100 games of all times for both OSs. It has about 100 millions of active players daily! Can you imagine that? Let’s take a look at this MMO wonder’s features to see why.

Graphics and Sound 5/5

The visual component of Clash of Clans is above all praise. Even though it is a strategy game for mobile platforms made in 2012 (It’s 7 years old!), it still looks gorgeous. Game designers from SuperCell managed to create cartoonish-but-smooth and very lively universe. The collaboration of fine coloring and high definition textures makes wonders, so to say. Detalization of objects is totally amazing for a strategy and delivers a feeling of enormous immersion. Hopefully, 100 million players per day is a good proof.

Character animation is quite funny and comic. Looks like they move in low fps, but it looks good.

Talking about sounds, there’s nothing actually remarkable. Music is just to create a background; sound effects are good enough and match characters and situations. Sounds are simply well.

Gameplay 5/5

CoC gameplay is divided into 2 main parts. First one is about mining gold and elixirs to build you own fort-village and protect your resources. The second part is about making raids to other villages to destroy them and steal resources. Mind that the same story may happen to you, so be careful! You have the choice to complete the campaign mode first or to join online battles from the very beginning. Try hard to achieve trophies of nine leagues, but don’t die as you will lose them.

Protect yourself and fight using 18 types of warriors, such as barbarians and dragons. The village is essential at the stage of unit creation. You need factories to produce better soldiers, elixirs and spells.

It’s Clash of CLans after all, isn’t it? So, the main feature of CoC gameplay is Clan creation. For this purpose, you can look for players in the game or link your social networks accounts. A good clan is a recipe for success.

In fact, Clash of Clans continues to be updated almost every week for 7 years. Each update brings new warriors, new slots, casts, trophies achievements.

Controls 5/5

Clash of Clans is originally designed for smartphones, so controls are on a very high level. Just tap to perform any action. That’s it.

Lasting Appeal 5/5

CoC offers quite a long campaign mode that is exciting enough to be completed, and an online mode that is much more exciting due to clashes with real gamers all over the world. Player research shows that the vast majority of players stick to CoC for not less than 2 years. It means that it’s over-immersive!

Difficulty Level

Clash of Clans is designed with a good sense of balance, so you won’t have to fight clans with units that exceed your army several times. Everything is fair and logic. Play, don’t be dumb and manage to die less and to kill more to gain gold.

Summary

All in all, Clash of Clans is a great MMO Strategy game for mobile platforms. It’s still being developed right now continuing to grow with details. MMO should be big, and CoC is. It should be well-balanced, and it is. It should have an exciting plot, and it has. It needs a fighting system, and it has. Building? Yes. Crafting?
